FORMER Beauty and the Geek star and Wamberal dance teacher, Jessie Byrne is no stranger to being in front of a crowd, but the bubbly model found herself in unknown territory when she took to the catwalk last week at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.

The winner of last year’s series of the popular Channel 7 show took to the runway last Wednesday walking for City Chic as part of the first plus size sidewalk runway show.

Despite the pressure, Ms Byrne, ever the professional, took it in her stride, wowing both the crowd and the fashion elite with her skills on the catwalk.

“The whole thing was just amazing,” Ms Byrne said.

“It was just such a privilege to be asked to walk in the show and to get up there and represent curvy girls.”

The full-time dance teacher actually opened the runway show with a dance, before parading sleepwear lingerie and a stylish off-the-shoulder dress.

“I never realised how much work goes into a fashion show,” Ms Byrne said.

“We have been rehearsing for the show every Sunday for eight hours and then I flew to Melbourne on Tuesday and we had a dress rehearsal at 7am on Wednesday morning for a midday show.”

The busy model also quickly learned that once the show was over it didn’t mean you could take your shoes off.

“You have to go get more photos taken and you spend about another hour talking to all the press and journalists.”
